Luca Santese celebrates obsession as the state of being obsessed. It is a climax of hysterical condition in which a person is in a persistent and, precisely obsessive state towards an idea, an image, a desire to have or want. Santese’s vision was supported by the styling of Tommaso Vaiani and the creative direction of Gloria Maria Cappelletti. IL NERVO was originally born as an editorial project of i-D Italy magazine. The disruptive output of this fanzine is strengthened by the presence and charisma of Roberta De Titta Graziano, trans model.

The topic of the volume edited by Filippo Maria is the Existence, the condition of being, and of being there, in relation to time and non-time. Existence is at the same time a physical time in which the person perceives and experiences in action. But it is also a potential projection in a space of no-time, towards eternity and towards the ancestral references to which everyone is necessarily linked. A perceptive experience of being there now, but also in the eternal flow. The output of this Zine also becomes, and above all, a timeless calendar, a tribute, and a celebration of the figure of Sabrina Querci, who curated the styling and art direction of this zine, also posing as a model: the latest project of her before her passing away.

Gilda and Bodha interpret the story of the genesis of CYCLE 01: KNIT by MORPHINE, a limited edition drop by MORPHINE, handmade from recycled yarns and deadstocks of vintage knitwear. In RE-BIRTH there is this underlying vision mainly focused on the ethical concept of “renewed existence”, made, again, new. It is a new genesis, a resurgence of upcycling products. It wants to be an awareness and empowerment of all those deadstock materials that must, for a moral question, necessarily become something else, regenerated symbols of a new aesthetic proposal.

Be one of a kind. Benassi’s moral imperative is to free eveyone’s self from external influences and to be, not to become. It is a celebration of the individual, of the uniqueness and authenticity of being rare and “one of a kind”. In his volume, the curator makes personal self-portraits available, together with portraits of Miss Q Lee and Lorenzo Danteo. The uniqueness of this reinterpretation is clear in the re-work carried out by Benassi on the archival portraits he made of Asia Argento: those portraits have been re-edited and customized by the artist to become, even more, a disruptive expression of the MORPHINE’s Manifesto.

Mel Bles raises the Present to the only condition in which to act and live. Not yesterday, not tomorrow. Reality is true only if placed in the context of today. The intensity of being there in every single moment, current and actual, becomes awareness that the moment of “being there now” is an opening to the experience of living actively towards the new. For this project it was deliberately decided to opt for an open casting, a further sign of that inclusiveness dear to the project.

The Manifesto statement interpreted in this fanzine is a tribute to Ciao Sex, the Cocoricò room opened in 1999. Alessandro Merlo celebrates the happiness of being free, the joy of living linked to that scene and of being oneself “beyond gender”. An important mention in this sense must be made to Gianluca Persia, a non-binary personality who oversaw the aesthetic and stylistic choice of the Zine and who was also immortalized by Merlo in the context of the Atelier Nostrano, the archive-laboratory where MORPHINE collects its vintage pieces and produces new upcycling garments. Jury Schiavi has created the stylistic code relating to glam.

The curating of the fanzine focuses on the concepts of sharing, empathy, democracy, community. It wants to be a message, a vision or a common feeling, a mission in which many can find themselves. It is the final celebration of being unique together. The pictures in this volume, taken collectively by the “Morphinomanes” (MORPHINE’s team) including the guest photographer Marcello Jr Dino, first composed the communication of the upcycling collection MORPHINE COMPENDIUM 01: PAZZESCA and then transliterated in this fanzine, evoking the concept of diaspora. The casting choice was deliberately communitarian, inclusive and global.

MORPHINE wants to support, endorse and promote the LGBTQIA+ community.
The entire proceeds will be donated to CASA MARCELLA, the first Italian shelter created to protect all Transgender and non-binary people who have suffered and flee situations of violence and abuse in domestic contexts.
For its protection mission and the will of celebration of all uniqueness, of sex, race and gender expression, CASA MARCELLA, dedicated to the trans activist Marcella di Folco, has been chosen as the recipient of the proceeds.

Fundamental partner of this first series is FONTEGRAFICA, a renowned printing house on the international scene. FONTEGRAFICA has printed and manually bound each zine on deadstock materials: a further celebration of the concept of recycling and reuse that permeates the whole vision of the format.
